The Family Place is all about building stronger families in Cache and Rich Counties. Working with both parents and children, we are here to support good relationships and help develop new approaches to family life. We strive to build stronger families by hosting fun, family-focused events in the community as well as offer a variety of programs such as workshops, counseling, and our Kid’s Place. The Family Place will always be known as a place for families of all kinds. We welcome anyone who wishes to grow closer to his or her family and learn with us!
The Family Place was established in 1982 as a small facility in Logan known as The Child & Family Support Center. The Center started with goal of providing a safe shelter for children involved in crisis situations, and has since expanded to meet the needs of all families. We continue to grow to meet the needs of the community. We now have three locations in Logan, Hyrum, and limited programing available in Smithfield.
The Family Place is a private 501(c) 3 nonprofit charitable organization governed by a board of directors consisting of local citizens. The organization receives funding primarily through community grants and private donors. In addition to financial funding, The Family Place receives supply donations from various businesses and community members. Many volunteer hours are also given to aid in the progression of The Family Place.
The Family Place holds workshops and seminars for both parents and children. With our amazing staff of professional instructors, The Family Place works as a venue for sharing ideas, finding answers, supporting positive solutions to parenting, and working through challenges. These classes cover a range of topics in both English and Spanish, scheduled throughout the year at our Hyrum, Logan and Smithfield locations. The Family Place staff is also available to visit your place of business, religious organization or community event to hold a workshop or provide a presentation.
Topics Include: Discipline, Self-Esteem, Communication, Toddlers, Tweens & Teens, Meal Planning, Cooking with Kids, Budgeting, Single Parenting, New Parent Program, Stepfamilies, Stress Management, Mommy & Me, Anger Management, Social Media and Kids, Teaching Body Safety, Fatherhood, Parenting Classes, and more!
Our experienced staff works to help children reach their full potential through educational opportunities. Children’s workshops and classes are fun and interactive so children learn the skills they need to be successful in life. Workshops and classes for children are available for toddlers through teens.
Topics Include: Self-Esteem, Anger Management, Communication, Impulse Control, Good-Touch/Bad-Touch®, Friendships, Making Good Choices, Be a Buddy Not a Bully, Fun in the Sun, Social Skills, Play Group, and more!
Our team of compassionate, licensed therapists are trained to provide support, guidance, and practical strategies to further empower you to overcoming life’s challenges. We provide counseling for individuals, couples, families, adults, children, and teens. In addition to counseling, we have a variety of workshops and group sessions.
Topics Include: Anxiety and Depression, Interpersonal Skills, Marriage and Family Relations, Divorce Adjustment, Grief and Loss, Parenting Challenges, Challenges in Childhood, Bullying and Abuse and Trauma.
The Family Place loves to see families spending quality time together! By holding fun, unique and exciting community activities, we hope you’re encouraged to do just that. We have three activities that we put on annually: A mud run for kids, a princess party and a superhero party. We also participate in a range of fun activities in the community, these can always be found on our Social Media.
The Kid’s Place is a place for parents to take their children if they are out of options. The Kid’s Place is provided at no cost for children 11 and under. The primary purpose of The Kid’s Place is intended to support parents during times of need. We have both weekly and emergency care. The Kid’s Place is also available for your children while attending workshops or counseling sessions.
