Family Educator, Home Visitor for Parents as Teachers

The Family Place Utah is seeking a part-time (15 hours per week) Home Visitor for Parents as Teachers to join our education team and help us fulfill our mission, “Strengthening families and protecting children.”
Proactive, self-directed, takes direction and takes initiative. Recruits, engages, and teaches children and/or parents following curriculums The Family Place (TFP) provides. Organizer, leader, delegator, able to work independently and collaborative with staff, interns, and volunteers. Enables team approach and/or instructor 1) preparing information, 2) educating, and 3) fostering and maintaining productive relationships that increase client participation in TFP programs and events.

Duties Synopsis

Prepares and teaches Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum through home visiting and monthly family activities. Follows and fulfills contractual requirements, intent of grant and donor funding, and timely reports outcomes in TFP data bases and written formats. Able to have some evening appointments as needed for the families being served.

Improved individual and parenting attitudes, knowledge, and skills accomplishing TFP mission and purposes directly protecting children and strengthening families.
Client engagement that increases awareness and participation in TFP services. Regularly refers families to other TFP services/activities as needed.

Program and client tracking and reports:

Audience specific materials for respective program curriculum maintained and assessable on TFP databases.
Maintain client information in TFP databases, i.e. name, phone, physical and email addresses.
Complete progress notes, surveys and evaluations in time frame allotted.
Meets with supervisor according to PAT requirements.
Encourages parental leadership in planning family activities.


1. Related degree or 2 years of experience working with children and families preferred.
2. Annual clearance of a Background Criminal Investigation
3. Detail oriented, organized
4. Excellent communication and public speaking skills
5. Engaging, motivating presenter
6. Leadership and time management skills
7. Computer skills (word, excel, social media, etc.).
