Frequently Asked Questions
We want parents to share in the experience with their children! Rather than opening presents and having parents watch, we want to help make the experience something that families enjoy together. We know the impact positive memories can have in a child’s life and development! Being a parent isn’t easy, especially around the holidays. Providing parents with 1 or 2 gifts can help show we care about them and understand the importance of taking care of yourself to better take care of your family.
Every amount makes a difference! If you or your group are looking to make a smaller donation please contact the volunteer coordinator at [email protected] for a list of our greatest needs and information about our giving tree!
To support the families of The Family Place you can make a donation online, volunteer your time, donate used items to Somebody’s Attic, and even just purchase Christmas gifts for your family through Amazon Smile! When you select The Family Place as your charity on Amazon Smile, Amazon will donate a portion of your purchase to The Family Place.
Refer members in the community in need to our services (education classes, online parenting resources, therapy, and FREE scheduled weekly and crisis child care) or another non-profit in the area (Little Lambs, Cache Food Pantry, English Language Learning Center, CAPSA, etc).
Each present that comes into the building will be accepted, at a scheduled time, unwrapped so the item can be disinfected and/or left unattended for a safe time period. Families will sign up for contact-less pick up times where a volunteer wearing protective gear will place the items safely into their car.
I serve at The Family Place as a Service Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. The best experience I had was working closely for the Christmas Sponsor program. In 2019, I was put in charge of organizing the presents that were brought in, wrapping them, and then getting them delivered or picked up by the families. This really brought to my attention how good this world really is. We were able to help over 70 families that wouldn’t have Christmas otherwise. With so many donations from our community we were able to provide over 1200 gifts. Being in charge of all of that was a big task, but I got to learn so much from that experience. Those memories of spending so many hours helping the ONE in need was beyond amazing.
