A 7 year old girl called The Family Place Utah and explained that her mom was hitting her with a yard stick and she didn’t know what to do.

She asked, “How can I get away from my parents forever?”

The Family Place Utah staff member talked to her and was able to collect the information necessary to provide help.  After the young girl had talked for a few minutes, she explained she had received a card with The Family Place Utah’s number on it at school.  She been in the Kids Empowered class and learned that she could call if she was afraid.  She knew that it wasn’t right for her mom to hit her and that was why she called. Our staff member was able to talk to her and provide support until the police arrived.  She calls back whenever she is scared, to seek help or just to talk.
